Noah's Ark Afloat
Noah's Ark has been found, investigated and the site has been declared a Turkish National Park. The site of Noah's Ark is 17 miles south of Mt. Ararat and is identified on maps as the Durupinar site. The Durupinar site is exactly 515 ft. long with an average width of 85.5 ft. which fit the dimensions of 300 cubits by 50 cubits from Genesis when measured with with the Royal Egyptian Cubid of 20.6 inches.
The Durupinar site is in the "Mountains of Ararat" of Agri in eastern Turkey, but is not on Mt. Ararat.
The Ark was buried in mud for 2000 years and as a result is petrified to appear like basalt stone.
In 1960, the Durupinar site was investigated by a joint US-Turkey team, written about in Sept. 1960. Life Magazine, and most but not all investigators concluded that the Durupinar site was not the Ark.
From 1977 to 1987 , the Durupinar site was investigated and measured by Ark hunter Ron Wyatt.
From 1985 to 1986, Ark hunter David Fasold joined Ron Wyatt to investigate the Durupinat site.
From 1985 to 1986, John Baumgardner joined Wyatt and Fasold to investigate the Durupinar site.
John Baumgardner changed his initial enthusiasm to skepticism concerning the site being the Ark.
Many Ark hunters including John Morris, Don Shockey, Jim Irwin, Bob Comuke and Lorence Collins have visited the Durupianr site near Uzengili and have concluded that it is not the remains of the Ark.
The Durupinat site is the proper size of the Ark, is boat shaped and is in the "Mountains of Ararat".
Prior to being exposed by an earthquake in 1948, the Durupinar site was completely buried in mud.
As Dave Fasold aptly quipped, "if it looks like a duck and quacks like a duck, then it must be a duck".
As the Durupinar site is the exact size, the ideal shape, and in the proper place, then it is the Ark!
Turkish scientific, archaeological and political officials have confirmed the data of Wyatt and Fasold.
In 1987, the Durupinar site was declared "Noah's Ark National Park" by the Agri province officials.
The Agri province is frequented by Kurdish rebels and is troubled by much political terrorist activity.
Ron Wyatt was a Nurse Anesthetist, who made several other Biblical Archeological discoveries.
David Fasold was a carrier Merchant Marine Officer and also a longtime shipwreck salvage expert. In 1985-86, Wyatt and Fasold co-investigated the Ark site, and shared all data that they gathered.
Wyatt and Fasold came to diametrically opposed conclusions concerning the original Ark design. In June 1989, Ron Wyatt published his book Noah's ark Discovered that discussed his design of the Ark. In 1989, David Fasold published his book The Ark of Noah that discussed his design of the Ark. In June 1990, Don Patten and Sam Windsor visited the Ark site on the only tour lead by Dave Fasold.
Don Patten was a geographer, who wrote several books on the Deluge and other Earth catastrophes. Sam Windsor is a retired Marine Engineer, who co-authored several books/articles with Don Patten.
Fasold, Patten and Windsor soon formed a bond concerning the design and function of Noah's Ark. In 1992-93, Sam Windsor wrote 2 articles, which added mathematical certainty to Fasold's Ark design. The Noah's Ark Afloat text on the Ark is based on insights provided by my mentor Sam Windsor.
In 2005, the author with Sam Windsor's help began writing an Ark book, and began making Ark models based on design insights from Dave Fasold and mathematical certainty from Sam Windsor. The Ark had a unique and sophisticated hydrodynamic design that was shaped like a "marine foil"! The long narrow wooden box-shape that many Ark hunters are seeking could not have survived the Deluge, nor safely berthed on Mt. Ararat, since Mt. Ararat was an active volcano during the Deluge.
For Jay Nelson, nearly every page of Noah's Ark Afloat was an exciting learning experience and was a challenge to discuss the design principals of Noah's Ark as described by my friend Sam Windsor.
The Ark had a 1/2 ellipse shape fore of beam (maximum width) and a camber curve shape aft of beam. A 27 inch '250 to 1' scale wooden Ark model was carved by my expert wood carver friend, Jeff Iller. Ideally, the text and models of the Ark will result in a consensus on the foil design of the Ark, and will end the futile search for an impossible Ark design on Mt. Ararat that was an inhospitable berthing site.
The Windsor/Fasold Ark design discusses that Noah's ark was constructed as a 2-part craft.
The Ark is 17 miles south of Mt Ararat and is labeled the Durupinar site near the Uzengili village.
The wooden raft portion of the Ark model fits the300 by 50 by 30 cubits dimensions in Genesis. Atop the raft, Noah built a Quonset hut shaped house/barn for man, beast and supplies for 1 year. The foil shaped Ark is the only Ark design that could have survived the year long global Deluge. The Ark design featured an open window atop the Quonset hut shaped house/barn that allowed Deluge rainwater to fall directly into the moon/hull pool of the raft, which was open to the sea below. The open window above and open hull pool kept the Ark in hydrodynamic equilibrium and provided fresh air ventilation for man and beast in the house/barn during the year long Deluge storm. The foil shaped raft and Quonset hut shaped house/barn of the Ark were united in construction by 5,400 metal fittings, which were identified by Ron Wyatt, David Fasold, John Baumgardner and Turkish officials while using 3 types of metal detectors and Substance Interface Radar ('SIR'). Many of the 5,400 metal fittings were located in 13 lengthwise linear array from bow to stern. A few of the metal fittings were located on or near the surface of the Ark site and were analyzed by labs iin the US, including Los Alamos National Lab, while most meal items remain buried in the site. Metal found within the Ark was distinctly different in quantity and quality from metal outside the site.
Jay Nelson orchestrated the Ark model making based upon the Ark analysis of Fasold and Windsor.
A '100 to 1' scale Ark model is being built, which will feature more detail of a very sophisticated craft. Jay Nelson just finished Noah's Ark Afloat, which discusses the Ark's very sophisticated design.
Sincerely, Jay Nelson, O.D.
